About Lindsay Renea

Meet Shoe Designer, Lindsay Renea born and raised in Youngstown Ohio where she studied classical piano from the age of 5 years old. She started dancing in middle school which is considered “late” in life for a dancer. She left her parents Lamarr and Debor’ah Benton to attend Howard University in Washington D.C. where she majored in Dance and minored in Piano.

The training she received in the Dance Major Program at Howard University is what prepared her for the challenge of balancing her career and business. The Dance Major was a microcosm of what she is doing now. She had six to eight hours worth of dance classes a day everyday, including weekends in addition to essays and papers to write, and oral presentations to make about dance as an art form, a science, and a vehicle of cultural retention. The ability to focus, channel, and engage thoughts for the purpose of presenting what she learned, and experienced, after hours of physical activity, and mental processing, ultimately prepared her for the life she is now living now as a professional concert dace artist and shoe designer.

Lindsay Renea, is now a professional dancer who has graced international stages as a member of Garth Fagan Dance Company. More recently however, while performing and touring full time she is jokingly called the “Dancing Designer” among her peers.

As a full-time Performing Artist, Lindsay Renea is frequently seen at high profile social events, and only second to her striking beauty as an attention-getter, are her unique and classy shoes.

As a young entrepreneur a love for shoe design is an extension of her creativity which supports the very base of her being. The uniqueness of her designs reinforce what all women already know. “What says ANYTHING better than Shoes?”

A Note from the Dancing Designer…..

The conditions inside the world of arts and entertainment often leave dance at the bottom of the totem pole. Very frequently dancers submit themselves to working under conditions that are rarely ideal. This has encouraged me to be creative and extremely resourceful in order to make things work that by calculation or by convention should not. I plan to apply this same type of ingenuity and fervor as I learn and develop concepts and ideas in the area of design.

In dance close attention is paid to actively using every part of one’s body to bring life to a visual idea. This has aided in the development of my critical eye and allowed me to not only appreciate accuracy and consistency of nuance in all forms of art.

From childhood I have always thought beyond the parameters of ideas that have been assigned to me. Pushing the envelope creatively has always lead to the frustration and excitement of my teachers as well as the detriment of the grading curve. My own frustration stems from shopping at a store that does not sell what I have designed in my head. I have concluded that if there is a desire for something to exist there is a need for it to fulfill somewhere.
